Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Expression Circle Magazine! This is a new semesterly magazine that focuses on publishing creative writing and art from students. We are excited to share this magazine with you after working on it for a while now. It only took a thought and committed people to bring this vision into fruition. I remember going over to Prof. Wandia Njoya after yet another thought-provoking literature class. We talked about the opportunities we had as literature students that help us improve our craft. We have so much potential as writers and artists, yet lack the opportunity to help us grow. We have very many stories, yet no one to tell, or rather no one giving us guidance on what to do with them so they end up unpublished thus unrecognized, leaving us with nothing to show. Right there and then, our mission came to life. Together with our patron Dr. Wangila, we started the club, Expression Circle. The club is to provide a platform where members can express themselves through writing and art, share knowledge, publish their creative works and inspire one another to achieve excellence in the literary and artistic world. In this issue, we have a collection of well selected short stories - both fictional and non-fiction, poems, and even a memoir. These articles are from emerging talents publishing their 1st work with us. The pieces enable us to look at the world differently. They are also meant to help us connect through our shared experiences. We hope to inspire other writers to come forward and submit their work for editing then ultimately, publishing. I am immensely grateful to the team that worked tirelessly to make this possible. We look forward to receiving more creative work from other writers. As you read this collection, we look forward to your feedback. You can join our community of writers and artists and be part of this vision. Feel free to visit our website and interact with our online pages.
