[Nairobi: July 5, 2025] From Monday July 1 to 5, 2025, the Daystar Leadership and Professional Development Institution conducted a 5-day-workshop for project managers affiliated with the Anglican Church, in partnership with the Church Commissioners of Kenya (CCK).
The workshop, which was held at the ACK Resort in Salama, Makueni County, was the second in a four-part modular program drawing participants from Ghana, Burundi, Tanzania and Kenya.
The first workshop took place in February 2025, during which time Daystar University signed an MoU intended to facilitate training for project managers within the Anglican Church in four African countries, through the Daystar Leadership and Professional Development Institute (DLPDI). The training which began in March this year will take four modules.
Unlike the first Module which laid more emphasis on Project Initiation and Stakeholder engagement, the second module had both theory and practical sessions, and focused on project planning and execution, and embraced a number of pertinent activities in project management namely, developing detailed project plans from timelines to making a budget with clear goals, team dynamics, and risk management among others.
Monitoring progress, evaluating results, and controlling risks is vital in every project. Every project needs thorough evaluation, and risk management is the order of the day when it comes to project management. The training was very practical as the participants had the very rare opportunity of visiting several projects at their various stages of implementation. The projects visited were those at the initiation stage to those already built up and being managed successfully. This practical experience enabled them to appreciate the specifics in project implementation and management.
In his opening address to the participants, the Director of DLPDI, Rev. Dr. Patrick Musembi called on the participants to focus on the training in order to optimize on the knowledge shared by facilitators . “Let us be ethical managers”, he emphasized.
The Chief Executive Officer, CCK, Canon Desmond Mtula thanked Daystar University for the insightful curriculum and the impact the training will give to the church leaders.
In today’s dynamic and constantly changing business environment, corporate leaders require constant re-tooling and upskilling for the sustainability of their organizations. Training, therefore, becomes pivotal towards re-equipping employees with current and necessary tools, skills and knowledge for overall organizational success.
DLPDI is an institute within Daystar University with the mandate of imparting management and leadership skills for business growth through short courses DLPDI develops programs that enhance performance excellence by equipping the participants with relevant skills aligned to organization’s operations taking cognizance of the industry.
