[Saturday July 5, 2025] In the month of July, the Corporate Affairs department intensified its student recruitment drive ahead of September 2025 and January 2026 intakes.
On 5th July, 5 teams attended career fairs in different locations across Kenya. Mrs. Hellen Ogodo led a team to Moi High School Kabarak while Mr. Sosnes Olindo went to Koilel Barracks in Gilgil, Joel Charles Suku was at Sunshine Secondary School and Ms. Rachael Mwaka at Charles Lwanga High School. Brian Mogusu at Acacia Crescent School, and Victoria Mumbi at Limuru Girls. The team was so thinly spread that we missed opportunities at the Nairobi School and St. Peter’s Mumias School scheduled for Sunday July 6.
On July 7-9, the team re-converged at Corat Africa in Nairobi for interactions with international delegates attending the INCHE conference.
On July 11, we hosted Kambi Mawe and three other schools for Academic Tour of the Main Campus Athi River. On July 12, the team split again with Hellen Ogodo heading the Father Heeran School in Tala while Sosnes went to Moi Educational School.
On Sunday July 13, Mrs. Damaris Kimilu and Alex Mutuku hosted the annual TIMAZI Readership Challenge at the Athi River Campus, attended by over 1,000 students from different schools. The event brought together students drawn from Christian Unions in High School, accompanied by their teachers and CU Patrons, to compete a set book for Christian students – Pray Big, by Alistair Gibb. The Chief Guest was Rev. Peterson Rukenya.
On July 19, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro led Corporate Affairs and School of Education staff and faculty to St. Mary's School Msongari where he addressed over 5,000 teachers from Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi schools.
In these events, the marketing teams engage potential students by:
- Giving a formal presentation highlighting the various academic programs and courses offered at our institution.
- Well organized exhibition booth displayed brochures detailing the course offerings and fee structure
- A one- on- one interaction with the students which enabled them to ask questions and get timely information about programmes offered in the institution.
- The team also offered questionnaire pamphlets where students key in their desired course , their personal details and the course they would want to pursue.
The excursion was also characterized by high engagement particularly the form fours. Their questions centered on:
- Admission requirements
- Course content and duration
- Fee structure and available payment plans
- Campus life and support services
The Career Fair was a true success in achieving its goal which was:
- Creating awareness about the academic programmes offered in the institution
- Many prospective students expressed interest in joining our institution especially for the January 2026 intake.
- Enhanced visibility and brand image .
Daystar University is committed to participate in such events to strengthen their ties and increase brand visibility.
