Rationale

Musicians in the 21st century need specialized training in order to be equipped to create, perform, and contribute in the contemporary African context because African societies have experienced, and continue to experience, dramatic changes for which musicians need to be prepared. These include, without being limited to:

  • The influence of urbanization.
  • The more educated and modernized audience member.
  • The false trends and artistic dilutions propagated in some music scenes.
  • The new phenomena of mega events and their unique demands.
  • The socio-political and socio-economic challenges that face artists today.
Requirements

Applicants to the Bachelor of Arts Music must fulfil entry requirements that apply to all Daystar undergraduate students, i.e. An overall minimum grade of C+ in KCSE or at least 4 credits in IGCSE with at least 2 credit passes at 'A' level/GCE .
